Who We Help

Here at United Ministries, we help working poor families with an inability to cover the cost of basic needs because of a recent crisis.

Our goal is reach out to the single working mother, the father struggling to raise children alone, and couples each working two minimum wage jobs. These are the people that, despite their own hard work, cannot always make ends meet.  These are the families who can not pay for basic living expenses because they have lost a job or a wage-earner has left the home, or they are trying to pay their high medical bills, or many other circumstances that most of us can only imagine. At United Ministries, we try to give them resources – both financial and emotional – in the midst of a crisis.

The federal government over the last 20 years has shifted the solution to the problems of poverty and hunger to the private sector and to local communities.  The issues of housing, jobs, health care, hunger, and poverty in our community are not going to be solved overnight. And we are going to see more people seeking assistance. But working together, we can make a difference in our community and help struggling families find solutions for change.

The problems of hunger and homelessness in this country and in our city are real. We all have to do what we can to alleviate these problems … one person at a time.
